Chair Yoga
I'm a big believer that yoga is for all. When I refer to yoga here, I'm talking about living a life inspired by yoga. I personally practise much more yoga off the mat than on it. This philosophy is a huge part of the work that I do + share, particularly on the Inspired Club.
However, there are eight limbs to the practice of yoga, and unfortunately, most people are only aware of the physical practice, known as 'Asana'. This is where yoga isn't always inclusive + doesn't always feel like it's 'for all'.
I often say, "yoga is so much more than the physical." It truly is. The intention of yoga asana is to prepare the body for stillness. Yoga asana isn’t just about handstands, wild things + warriors. We can achieve the intention of yoga asana through many other styles of yoga.
Sadly, certain yoga asana styles + practices aren’t inclusive + are often only accessible to able-bodied people. I, too, have contributed to a significant amount of this type of content. It excludes a vast number of people + I want my teaching to be inclusive for all.
This is why I have created a chair yoga series to support more people in accessing the physical practice of yoga. Each session is designed to be accessible to everyone, using a chair for support to ensure comfort + stability.
I appreciate that this series still won’t be 'for all', but my hope is that it is more inclusive + accessible to more people.
The series is completely free + you can access it on my YouTube channel.
If you know someone who would benefit from these videos, I’d love for you to share them.
The Inspired Club includes other practices of yoga that don’t require you to step on the mat:
- Yoga philosophy
- Meditations
- Affirmations
- Journaling
Additionally, it offers a variety of yoga asana practices, which include seated + chair practices. Expect to see even more in the future.
Chair Yoga Series
Throughout my Chair Yoga series on YouTube, we focus on slow, mindful movements that help release tension + promote relaxation. By listening to and respecting your body, you can use these practices as a way of taking care of both your body + mind. Whether you’re looking to improve flexibility, reduce stress, or simply find a moment of peace in your day, these sessions are here to support you on your wellness journey.
